Industrialization Engineer, Robotics

Amazon is looking for an Industrialization Engineer to join our team and drive the design, development, and delivery of hardware components and sub-systems that power our products and infrastructure.

In this role, you will take ownership of the full hardware lifecycle — from defining requirements and creating designs to validating prototypes and driving manufacturing. You will work in spaces where product requirements are still forming and root causes are not yet fully understood, applying your technical depth and sound judgment to deliver reliable, cost-effective solutions. You will lead projects, mentor engineers, and collaborate across teams to ensure hardware meets quality, cost, and schedule targets. Key job responsibilities - Lead the design, development, and validation of hardware components and sub-systems, taking concepts from initial requirements through prototyping, supplier selection, and volume manufacturing. - Define system-level hardware architecture and decompose complex projects into parallel workstreams, coordinating across team members to deliver cohesive, integrated designs on schedule. - Create and execute comprehensive test plans that validate design performance, address system integration challenges, and ensure reliability using techniques such as failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA). - Collaborate with vendors and cross-functional partners to negotiate manufacturing approaches, optimize material and component selection, and balance trade-offs between cost, quality, performance, and scalability. - Coach and mentor engineers on your team, drive adoption of engineering best practices, and contribute to design reviews that raise the bar on hardware quality and operational excellence across the organization.

A day in the life You might start your morning reviewing simulation results for a new sub-system design, then jump into a vendor call to align on manufacturing tolerances and timelines. After lunch, you could be leading a design review where you help a teammate simplify a complex assembly, followed by updating test plans to cover a newly identified integration risk. Throughout it all, you are balancing hands-on technical work with strategic thinking — assessing where your product sits in its lifecycle and deciding which improvements will have the greatest long-term impact.

Basic Qualifications: - Experience in developing functional specifications, design verification plans and functional test procedures - Experience with the project management of technical projects - Master's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or equivalent Preferred Qualifications: - Experience working with interdisciplinary teams to execute product design from concept to production
