About this Job

Schaeffler is a dynamic global technology company and its success has been a result of its entrepreneurial spirit and long history of private ownership. Does that sound interesting to you? As a partner to all of the major automobile manufacturers, as well as key players in the aerospace and industrial sectors, we offer you many development opportunities.

Your Key Responsibilities

Join our humanoid robotics team to innovate advanced robots, collaborate with experts, enhance your skills, and create transformative technologies that help shape the future of human-robot interaction.

  • Responsible for planning and optimizing production systems by applying systematic approaches to boost productivity and profitability. Ensure the continuous improvement of operations across the value stream.
  • Plan, analyze and optimize the production system.
  • Create and maintain IE master data (e.g. Routing, BOM, Workcenter).
  • Manufacturing Method Optimization: Analyze and refine the fabrication processes for high-tolerance humanoid actuator components (housings, rotors, and custom shafts).
  • Precision Assembly Design: Develop and implement optimized assembly workflows for complex gearboxes. You will focus on minimizing stack-up errors and ensuring repeatable torque-density performance in planetary and strain wave sets.
  • Advanced DFM/DFA: Lead Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) initiatives. You will work directly with the R&D team to influence gear profiles and component geometry to reduce cycle times and costs.
  • Coordinate cross-functional projects across the entire value stream related to process improvements, change management and product launches.
  • Evaluate production KPIs for continuous improvement and to guide decision-making (e.g. OEE, TEEP, etc.).
  • Perform product cost calculations.
  • Implement workplace design through time and motion studies (e.g. MTM, REFA).
  • Plan and manage capacity and investment planning.
  • Create and maintain P-FMEA.

Your Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering or a closely related field.
  • Minimum of 3+ years of experience in industrial or manufacturing engineering, with preference for candidates from the robotics, aerospace, or automotive drivetrain industries.
  • In-depth knowledge of Planetary Gears and Strain Wave Gears (Harmonic Drives), including the specific challenges involved in their assembly.
  • Demonstrated success in simplifying manufacturing processes and reducing complexity through design interventions at early development stages (DFM/DFA).
  • Skilled in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Experience using high-precision metrology tools.
  • Proficient in CAD software such as SolidWorks and Siemens NX.
  • Experienced with manufacturing simulation tools including AnyLogic, Arena, FlexSim, or PCM.
  • Practical experience with automated assembly systems and integration of robotic workcells.
  • Familiarity with specialized coatings and heat treatment processes used in high-wear gear components.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification a plus
  • Must have legal authorization to work in the United States. (Note: This position does not provide visa sponsorship or support.)
