Position Overview:

Tests, calibrates, installs, repairs, and inspects monitoring devices for plant production/process equipment.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Works with scientific and analytic computer software, calculators, voltage and current meters, and electronic probes to diagnose faults in circuitry.
  • Analyzes malfunctions of instruments and control systems and determines necessary steps to repair equipment.
  • Performs calibrations on various devices measuring flow, pressure, temperature, level, and speed.
  • Prepares reports and records on calibration, inspection, testing, and repair activities.
  • Investigates and communicates quality-related issues including instrument discrepancies, exception reporting and other non-compliance related issues.
  • Performs general maintenance on equipment and designs new measuring and recording equipment.
  • Provides troubleshooting, diagnostic assessment and other technical support on instrumentation.
  • Performs work under direct supervision. Handles basic issues and problems and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff.
  • Possesses beginning to working knowledge of subject matter.
  • Provide skilled electrical support to field technicians in oilfield operations.
  • Provide electrical/mechanical maintenance and repairs.
  • Install transformers, disconnects, starters, field instruments, control panels, motor controls, and motors. Installs conduits and pulls wiring as required to each device.
  • Troubleshoot and correct electrical devise failures as required.
  • Read and interpret electrical specifications, standards, and blueprints.
  • Ensure the reliability, integrity, and usability of electrical components.
  • Understands hazardous area classification requirements to finalize, design and layout of the electrical/control instrumentation on a package.
  • Provides start-up assistance and troubleshooting to field service technicians and customers during commissioning of equipment packages at site.

  • Apply NFPA 70E guidelines while performing work.
  • Terminate both high and low voltage equipment and cable/wiring.
  • Assemble and install electrical equipment.
  • Responsible for callout on emergency communications outages or problems.
  • Read blueprints to determine the scope of work and order the correct materials.
  • Train and educate apprentice level employees with the use and practical application of NEC code.
  • Perform various other duties and activities as assigned by supervisor within the physical constraints of the job.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years experience working in an oil & gas field environment.
  • High school graduate or GED equivalent from an accredited institution.
  • Journeyman license.
  • Knowledge of industry standards (API, IEEE, NEC, NFPA, IEC, etc.).
  • Ability to demonstrate comprehensive knowledge and understanding of instrument & controls system design and its application for Oil & Gas process equipment packages.
  • Technical skills to read and understand Piping & Instrumentation Diagram (P&IDs).
  • Valid drivers license and acceptable driving record
  • All candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.
  • No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates that currently reside within the immediate geographical area (50 miles) of facility location will be considered.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Working experience with Compression or other Rotating Equipment.
  • Experience in PLC programming, HMI, sequence logic design, PID loop design and implementation.
  • Timely problem-solving skills, working in a team environment with the ability to lead a project and prioritize responsibilities.
  • Advanced PC skills including word processing and spreadsheet usage required. CAD skills (AutoCAD) preferred.

  • Must be able to multi task, establish priorities, delegate to others, and hold them accountable.

  • Must be able to work a flexible work schedule that provides the appropriate level of direct involvement and leadership.

  • Travel as needed.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand, sit and/or walk on a hard surface as well as safely bend, stoop, reach, climb steps and use ladder up to 8 hours per day, occasionally up to 12 hours per day.

  • Lift up to 50 pounds.

  • Vision abilities required: close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Vision to accurately read all related distribution documents and computer monitor screens.
