About this Job
Hilcorp offers field internship opportunities for students and recent graduates pursuing degrees or technical training in Computer Science, Computer Systems Engineering, Automation, Instrumentation, Controls, or related disciplines.
Applicants from non–Computer Science degree paths are strongly encouraged to apply if they have relevant coursework or hands-on experience with industrial automation, SCADA systems, industrial controls, instrumentation, networking, or server systems.
Automation/SCADA Interns will work on-site in Prudhoe Bay, Alaska, supporting North Slope operations.
Responsibilities:
Automation/SCADA Interns will work directly with the Hilcorp North Slope team supporting SCADA systems and industrial process automation and controls. This internship provides exposure to both field and system-level work, including hardware and software components.
Typical responsibilities may include:
- Supporting SCADA, automation, and industrial controls programming
- Assisting with turbine controls, instrumentation, and flow measurement systems
- Working with facility instrumentation and associated field equipment
- Participating in troubleshooting, maintenance, and system improvements
- Engaging in hands-on field activities alongside technical staff
Interns are expected to:

Qualifications:
- Full availability for the summer internship term
- Currently enrolled full-time or recently graduated (within the last 12 months)
- Pursuing or recently completed a degree or technical program in one of the following areas:
- Computer Science
- Computer Systems Engineering
- Automation / Industrial Automation
- Instrumentation & Controls
- Electrical, Electronics, or related technical disciplines
- Or equivalent relevant experience in industrial automation, SCADA, controls, networking, or instrumentation
- Interest in pursuing a career in the oil & gas industry
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
- Ability to work a 14 days on / 14 days off rotation
- Willingness to perform additional duties as assigned by management
