Functional Safety Engineer (ISO 26262) – Automotive Lighting Projects
We are currently looking for an experienced Functional Safety Engineer to support automotive lighting projects for a Tier-1 supplier working with global OEMs. The role focuses on functional safety activities for series development projects, covering the full lifecycle from early concept and RFQ phase through SOP and post-SOP support.
This is a project-based engagement starting around February/March, with an initial contract of 3–6 months and a strong possibility of extension.
Preferred location: on-site or hybrid support in Krakow (PL). Local availability is highly valued.
Your Responsibilities
Perform functional safety activities in accordance with ISO 26262 across the complete V-model lifecycle
Review and assess HARA, safety goals, ASIL classifications, and safety requirements in line with OEM expectations
Develop, maintain, and release functional and technical safety concepts
Ensure end-to-end traceability of safety requirements across system, hardware, and software levels
Support system and item definition, architecture design, and technical reviews from a functional safety perspective
Plan, execute, and review safety analyses such as FMEA, FMEDA, FTA, and DFA, in close cooperation with HW/SW teams
Act as a functional safety interface towards OEM customers, including participation in safety workshops, reviews, and audits
Coordinate functional safety topics with suppliers and sub-suppliers, including safety requirement flow-down
Support safety validation activities, confirmation measures, and safety case preparation prior to SOP
Contribute to the continuous improvement of functional safety processes, templates, and best practices
Your Profile
Degree in Electrical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Science, or a comparable field
Several years of hands-on experience in functional safety engineering within the automotive industry
Solid knowledge of ISO 26262, including safety lifecycle, ASIL concepts, and required work products
Experience with automotive lighting systems or electronic control units is a strong advantage
Good understanding of embedded systems and system-level development
Familiarity with ASPICE and series development processes
TÜV Functional Safety certification is a plus
Confident communicator, comfortable working with OEMs, suppliers, and cross-functional teams
Structured, quality-driven, and proactive working style
Fluent English required; additional languages are a plus
