Position Overview

The Fleet Performance Engineer is responsible for maximizing the value and efficiency of LGES Vertechs battery energy storage global install base, ensuring optimal performance, safety, availability and sustainability of sites. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the Fleet Performance Manager as well as stakeholders in the Field Service, Engineering, Operations, and other teams to identify and quickly diagnose product and performance issues and support corrective actions and improvement initiatives. They will conduct system testing and run analysis on BESS operational data to evaluate performance as well as generate different metrics to include in reports required under warranties and contracts and as requested by external customers or internal leadership. This role is integral to optimizing the technical and economical performance of LGESVTs fleet and offers the unique opportunity to have a transversal impact across various domains in our growing Service organization. Some limited travel can be required (around 10%) for internal meetings and occasional field visits for special projects.

Responsibilities

  • Issue Resolution:Resolving maintenance and serviceability challenges across a rapidly growing fleet of grid-scale energy storage sites.
  • Performance Assurance:Working with Service Engineering and Field Service teams to ensure that LG Vertech meets its contractual and performance obligations for energy storage projects.
  • Data Analysis: Utilizing BESS operations data and service work-order data to identify trends, analyze fleet-wide issues, and develop robust measurables for mean time to fail (MTTF), mean time to repair (MTTR), and other key Service and product performance metrics.
  • Process and Tool Development:Developing processes and tools to track and highlight operational risks and facilitate the efficient delivery of contractual service obligations.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:Working across various functional teams such as Supply Chain, Operations, Service, Software, and other domains to identify high-impact issues and support effective issue resolution.
  • Technical and Commercial Support: Assist technical and commercial discussions related to fleet maintenance and obligation delivery, evaluating new contractual performance requirements, assessing business risks and prototyping KPIs.
  • Additional technical and administrative functions may be assigned as needed.

Key Skills & Qualifications

  • Education:A Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering discipline, preferably Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent years of experience in BESS and/or renewable energy industries.
  • Technical Skills:
    1. Advanced proficiency in Python or R or SQL and able to manipulate and analyze large data sets for informed decision making
    2. Experience with data visualization platforms (e.g: Power BI or Tableau) for developing strategic insights and executive reporting
    3. Experience with owning the development and implementation of business processes
    4. Experience in statistical methods for performance monitoring/forecasting preferred
  • Experience:
    1. Relevant years of experience, often around 3+ years, with operations and maintenance activities for power generation or similar equipment. Knowledge in BESS or PCS systems architectures, understanding of SCADA and control systems, inventory optimization, preferred.
    2. Strong owners mindset, stakeholder management, and written & verbal communication skills
    3. Proven track record understanding customer pain points and translating them into data product solutions
    4. Demonstrated ability to work in cross functional teams with strong analytical skills and a proactive problem-solving approach.
