Supporting our first-of-a-kind engineered solutions, this role will focus on software-driven challenges within complex automation environments. From robots to rockets, med-tech to heavy equipment, our teams deploy intelligent solutions that require strong software performance and system integration. We are seeking a Field Service Software Engineer to support, troubleshoot, and enhance software integrated with deployed automation systems while working directly with customers and engineering teams.

Success Criteria:

As a continuous contributor, you will quickly gain familiarity with PAR’s automation platforms and deployed systems, applying your software experience to support field installations and customer sites. You will operate with increasing independence, resolving issues and implementing software updates in collaboration with engineering teams.

Success in this role means confidently troubleshooting system behavior, contributing to software improvements, supporting installations and upgrades, and demonstrating strong ownership of assigned technical responsibilities while maintaining high quality and customer focus.

Our starting rate of pay for this salaried position is targeted at $72,000 – 85,000 annually. Additional compensation above and beyond standard rate is applied for field service travel.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant Engineering discipline (i.e. mechanical, electrical, controls) 
  • 1-3 years of experience programming and debugging real time software applications in languages like C/C++/C#/ Python
  • Experience with software development tools similar to: Jira, Git, Visual Studio, etc.
  • Ability to set your own course without oversight
  • High attention to detail and ownership of work 
  • Strong organizational, communication and troubleshooting skills 
  • Ability to travel to customer sites (typically no more than 50%, but on rare occasions may fluctuate up to 75% depending on business needs)
  • US Person

Preferred experience: 

  • Robotics, PLC, HMI experience in an industrial automation setting
