Electrical Maintenance Engineer - Wakefield 

£39,906 per annum 

Monday to Thursday 08:00 – 17:00, Friday’s 08:00 – 16:00 

This role is the delivery of electrical maintenance services to the Household Waste Recycling Centre, Materials Recycling Facility, Composting Facility, Residual Waste Treatment Facility and supporting Education Centre. 

The role forms part of a self-contained maintenance team working closely with the Operations Team to ensure safety and operational targets are met. The maintenance delivery services consist of preventative and reactive work, project work alongside supporting capital investment and lifecycle work as required. 

Your key responsibilities:

  • Execute planned maintenance activities (inspections, monitoring and routine) and to provide the necessary technical feedback to allow improvement to the job plans and task list within the CMMS 

  • Report any deviations from Biffa Safety, Health, Environmental policy, associated standards and procedures to the Maintenance Planning Engineer 

  • Use SCADA and HMI to determine process condition(s) and to aid in fault finding in the event of corrective maintenance or to determine the true reason for process poor performance 

  • Report any poor maintenance practices and any deviations from the Biffa Maintenance Management Framework and supporting business process standards 

  • Maintain maintenance document and drawings to the required standard to ensure legal compliance 

  • Working on the Cerebus Siemens fire system and being able to change out manual call points and working with our dedicated fire systems contractor  

  • Carrying out weekly and monthly fire hydrant and sprinklers checks across the site and the hydrant and sprinkler engines

 

Essential criteria for this role: 

  • A minimum electrical qualification (industrial facing) at NVQIII, BTEC ONC/OND, NVQ IV/V, BTEC HNC/HND level. 

  • Qualified to IET 18th Edition Wiring Regulations 

  • Good working knowledge on electrical installations, electrical testing, lighting maintenance, in service inspection and testing of electrical equipment, emergency lighting, fire detection and alarm systems, industrial switchgear, EMC, lighting protection, building services, LEV and control systems. 

  • Strong fault diagnosis and rectification on control systems (PLCs, SCADA etc) and electrical systems and circuits from 24V d.c up to 415V a.c 

  • The ability to read to a high level of understanding electrical drawings and a lesser level PIDs and mechanical schematics.  

  • Working knowledge of Electricity at Work Regulations (EaWR 1989) and PTW and LOTO systems
