Job Summary
Responsible for installing and maintaining electrical wiring, fixtures, and systems in buildings and production equipment.
Summary of Essential Job Functions
- Maintenance & Repair: Performs preventive maintenance, diagnose faults, and repair low/medium voltage electrical systems, motors, direct starts, soft starts VFDs, and industrial instrumentation
- Instrumentation: Calibrate, set-up, install, and repair instrumentation I/O including but not limited to: Temperature, Pressure, Flow, Level, pH, DO, Conductivity, Weight, Cylinders, Control/Valves, Discrete/Valves, Servos, Robotics and Pneumatic/Hydraulic systems
- Control Systems: Work with PLCs, DCS, and SCADA for troubleshooting, programming changes, and system integration
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records, follow SOPs, complete work orders, and interpret P&IDs, electrical drawings, schematics
- Safety: Adhere strictly to safety protocols (arc flash, PPE) and electrical codes (NEC)
- Collaboration: Work with engineers, mechanics, reliability, welders, B&G, and production teams to resolve issues and support projects.
- Planning: Electrical systems, Instrumentation systems
- Maintains Electrical Distribution, & MCC Locations
- Calculate Electric Consumption for Facility Processes
- Tests: voltage, resistance, and phase angle in circuits, using voltmeters, ohmmeters, and phase rotation indicators to ensure safety upon job completion
- TroubleshootsPower Distribution, Motor Systems, Instrumentation Systems, Process Systems, Building Controls, Automation Controls, Utility Systems
- Installs conduits and pipes to house electrical wires and cables
- Ensures piping complies with electrical codes
- Installs circuit breakers and other electrical hardware and connects wiring to them
- Tests electrical systems to ensure proper installation and operation
- Inspects electrical systems to determine whether repairs are needed
- Replaces conduit and wiring as needed
- Replaces circuit breakers as needed
- Performs other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Extensive knowledge of electrical systems and wiring
- Ability to read blueprints
- Proficient in the use of test meters and other diagnostic equipment to test voltage, resistance, and phase angle in circuits, using voltmeters, ohmmeters, and phase rotation indicators to ensure safety upon job completion;
- Ability to troubleshoot basic motor controls;
- Knowledge of three phase motors
- Ability to use hand tools and power tools
- Industrial control troubleshooting skills are preferred
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Physical Demands & Work Environment
- Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:30am-4:30pm, unless business needs require additional hours worked;
- Ability to work flexible schedule and extended hours if needed, which includes overtime and on-call
- This position works in production areas; Exposures include moving parts, high noise levels, vibrations, varying atmospheric conditions, hot and cold temperatures, chemicals, high pressure steam and dust, and outdoor weather conditions
- Must be able to see color to discern color-coded wiring.
- Prolonged periods standing, kneeling, bending, and climbing ladders, stairs or scaffolding. Walking extended distances
- Must be physically capable of pulling wires and cables through conduits
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time
- Ability to enter confined spaces as necessary
- Travel is not expected for this position
- This position does not supervise the work of others
- Must be able to wear full-face respirator and protective equipment for testing. This includes minimal facial hair in order to ensure proper fit in of respirator in accordance with OSHA regulations. Must complete annual medical monitoring program, including pulmonary function testing.
Education and Experience:
- Associates Degree in Electrical Technologies or a related field
