Job Summary:
Semtech Corporation is seeking a highly motivated and technically advanced intern to join our MEMS & Solutions Department for Summer 2026. This internship offers a unique and hands-on opportunity to contribute directly to silicon verification and characterization activities for Semtech's cutting-edge MEMS-based sensing and mixed-signal semiconductor products.
Responsibilities:
Silicon Verification & Characterization
Support silicon bring-up, verification, and characterization of new MEMS and mixed-signal semiconductor devices
Develop and execute test plans for characterizing analog and mixed-signal circuit performance including gain, bandwidth, noise, linearity, and power consumption
Utilize lab instruments including oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and signal generators to measure and validate silicon performance against design specifications
Analyze characterization data and generate detailed reports summarizing findings, anomalies, and recommendations for design iteration
Analog & Mixed-Signal Circuit Evaluation
Apply knowledge of analog CMOS design principles to evaluate and validate MEMS sensor interface circuits and mixed-signal front-end designs
Support evaluation of operational transconductance amplifiers, class AB output stages, and other analog building blocks in silicon
Use simulation tools including Cadence Virtuoso and Spectre to compare measured silicon performance against pre-silicon simulations
Identify and document performance deviations between simulated and measured results
Firmware & Embedded Systems Support
Develop and maintain embedded C firmware to support silicon evaluation platforms and automated test routines
Support integration of MEMS sensor devices with microcontroller-based evaluation boards using STM32, ARM Cortex-M, or similar platforms
Write scripts in Python or MATLAB to automate data collection, analysis, and reporting for characterization test sequences
Support FPGA-based evaluation platforms using VHDL or Verilog as needed
Machine Learning & Data Analysis
Apply machine learning techniques to analyze large characterization datasets and identify patterns, anomalies, and optimization opportunities
Leverage experience with PyTorch, TensorFlow, or Keras to support data-driven analysis of silicon performance data
Develop automated data processing pipelines to streamline characterization workflows and improve engineering productivity
Documentation & Cross-functional Collaboration
Generate clear and comprehensive technical documentation including test plans, characterization reports, and design observations
Present findings and project updates to MEMS & Solutions engineering team and stakeholders
Collaborate with design, test, and applications engineering teams to support overall product development objectives
