About this Job

Summary

Researches, develops, designs, and tests electrical components, equipment, and systems related to continuous steel casting, in addition to installing and maintaining electrical test systems used during the repair/refurbishment of customer products and parts.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Builds, calibrates, and repairs electrical instruments or electrical test equipment for shop use during machine repairs.
  • Designs and aids shop personnel in the fabrication of test control apparatus and equipment, and helps determine methods, procedures, and conditions for testing products.
  • Provides support and technical advice during field installations and/or repairs.
  • Uses computer assisted engineering software and equipment to perform engineering tasks.
  • Uses hand tools and electrical testing equipment to install and verify customer products.
  • Uses soldering tools in the assembly/disassembly of customer products.
  • Follows electrical schema and blueprints closely to ensure all products adhere to functional specifications and customer requirements.

Job Qualifications/Educational Requirements

  • Associates degree in EE/ EET/ Automation with 2yrs. experience
  • Bachelors Degree in EE/ EET/ Automation (Entry Level)
  • Strong understanding of electrical diagrams and blueprints
  • Strong understanding of AC/DC electrical theory, transducer theory, electric motors, thermocouples, accelerometers, microcontrollers, and various remote I/O systems (Profibus, CAN bus, RJ-45, Serial, etc.)
  • Strong troubleshooting/diagnostic abilities
  • Basic understanding of mathematics and trigonometric functions
  • Basic understanding of engineering design software (AutoCAD)
  • Basic understanding of Variable Frequency Drives, and PLCs (Allen Bradley, GE Fanuc)
  • Basic understanding of mechanical concepts
