JOB DESCRIPTION
PRIMARY PURPOSE
The Controls Technician collaborates with various teams to deliver customized automation solutions that meet customer requirements. Focus on completing assigned project tasks and working closely with your team. Develop your technical skills and knowledge to improve your capabilities in providing solutions.
QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS
- Associates degree in Mechatronics or equivalent experience required.
- Current electrical license preferred.
- Background or training in industrial control systems is preferred.
- Experience with CAD e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Creo, Inventor, etc. is preferred.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to travel to customer and vendor facilities; approximately 40% travel required.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs.
- Must be a good fit culturally for a family-owned enterprise.
JOB DUTIES
Technical
- Hardware
- Configure and troubleshoot electrical and pneumatic systems safely.
- Configure and troubleshoot sensors, instruments, valves, and VFDs.
- Build, configure, and troubleshoot control, IO, drive, and HMI panels.
- Work with Electrical Designers to update CAD drawings.
- Software
- Assist others in PLC and HMI application programming.
- PLC programming, configuration, and troubleshooting.
- HMI programming, configuration, and troubleshooting.
- MS Windows troubleshooting.
- Server and workstation troubleshooting.
- Software application troubleshooting.
- Network
- Network troubleshooting.
- Switch configuration and troubleshooting.
Project
- Follow all MG Newell and customer safe work practices while on site and in the shop.
- Assist others in the quoting, planning, design, and closing phases of a project.
- Perform build and commission phase tasks assigned by the project lead.
- Regularly attend internal project meetings.
- Provide detailed work performed documentation.
Administrative
- Remain up to date on safety training and certification.
- Submit weekly timesheets accurately and on time.
- Follow MG Newell procedures.
- Detail oriented in all work.
- Promote an engaging work environment by exhibiting a positive attitude, helping where needed, and being an active member of the company.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Leadership
- Provide regular status updates to your supervisor and project leaders.
- Manage your time and tasks.
- Professional development in technical expertise.
- Respond promptly in your team communications.
Sales
- Able to communicate clearly and respectfully with the customer.
- Discuss support opportunities with the customer.
