Position Summary

Controls Technician to support manufacturing equipment installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement projects within a high-volume automotive production environment.

This role is ideal for someone with strong PLC programming and industrial controls experience who enjoys hands-on work involving equipment startups, debugging, vendor support, and process improvements.

Recent graduates with excellent PLC skills and a strong technical foundation are encouraged to apply.


Key Responsibilities

  • Review equipment designs and specifications to identify improvements.
  • Support equipment buyoffs and validate machine functionality before installation.
  • Install, commission, and start up manufacturing equipment.
  • Troubleshoot electrical and control system issues during equipment installation and production.
  • Modify and optimize equipment to improve safety, quality, and productivity.
  • Perform equipment trials and make necessary adjustments.
  • Verify equipment quality through secondary validation methods such as torque checks and vacuum profiles.
  • Program and troubleshoot PLC systems including Toyopuc and Allen-Bradley.
  • Train maintenance personnel on newly installed equipment.
  • Share technical knowledge and best practices with maintenance and production teams.
  • Coordinate with equipment vendors during installation and startup activities.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of experience with PLC programming and troubleshooting in an industrial environment.
  • Experience with one or more of the following PLC platforms:
    • Toyopuc
    • Allen-Bradley
    • Siemens
    • Omron
    • Mitsubishi
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Industrial electrical circuits
    • Industrial control systems
  • Ability to read electrical and mechanical drawings.
  • Associate degree, technical degree, trade school certificate, or equivalent experience in:
    • Electrical Engineering Technology
    • Industrial Maintenance
    • Automation
    • Mechatronics
    • Controls Technology
  • Willingness to travel up to 65%.
  • Ability to work overtime as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Industrial maintenance experience.
  • Automotive manufacturing experience.
  • Industrial robot programming and teaching.
  • AGV/AMR programming and setup.
  • Safety scanner programming.
  • Industrial networking experience, including:
    • EtherNet/IP
    • Profinet
    • FL-net

Physical Requirements

  • Lift and carry up to 40 lbs.
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and climbing.
  • Ability to work at heights and in industrial manufacturing environments.
  • Manual dexterity to operate hand and power tools.
  • Ability to work in hot, cold, and confined spaces.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate has a strong background in industrial automation and PLC programming, enjoys troubleshooting manufacturing equipment, and is comfortable traveling to support equipment installations and production launches. Candidates with automotive manufacturing experience are highly preferred, but strong automation technicians from other manufacturing industries are also encouraged to apply.
