In the Business Function Technology we have a position available for a Controls Engineer in the Airports Equipment Development Transport and Sort stream. We’ll give you the opportunity to work in an inspiring and challenging work environment.

Your department

The Transport and Sort stream team is a knowledgeable team of multidisciplinary product managers and subject matter experts responsible for the design, implementation and testing of our Airports platform modules, while building the bridges between our development teams and project execution departments to ensure product and process alignment for all disciplines. We provide the total solution and transport and sort stream product deployment knowledge to develop, sell and deliver Airports solutions, followed by a strong focus on continuous learning and improving.

Your position

As a Controls Engineer you are responsible for designing, implementing, testing and maintaining high quality equipment control software running on a transport controller (PLC). You will translate requirements to designs and software functions. During this process you will perform reviews, deliver design documentation and create a test plan. When the required functionality is clear you will implement your code, making use of our software library. You will test and validate your code on simulated environments, with physical equipment in our Innovation Center or at one of our Airport customer sites. Once ready, your solution will be used worldwide in multiple projects and you are responsible to support when required. Lessons learned will result in recommendations for improvement. In this challenging role, you will be widely involved in all kinds of architectural, design, development and support activities.

Your profile

You have a bachelor’s degree in mechatronics, electronics, OT controls or IT technology with:

  • At least 5 years of experience in an Industrial work environment.
  • Proven affinity with systems controls during your working experience, internships or hobbies.
  • Knowledge of hardware architectures and industrial networks.
  • Knowledge of Siemens TIA Portal and industrial automation product portfolio.
  • Interest in (electro-)mechanical equipment
  • A strong mindset of re-use, standardization and modularization.
  • Process driven team player and eager to learn.
  • Prepared to travel to support your solution in case of a pilot
  • Good command of the English language is required.
