About this Job

  • About*

  • Echandia develops advanced battery systems for heavy-duty maritime applications, helping the shipping industry shift from fossil fuels to zero-emission electrification. As we grow, we're looking for a new Electrical Service and Commissioning Engineer to join our after-sales team.

  • About the Role*

  • You will travel to customer sites — within and outside Europe — for system commissioning, service and warranty work, and occasional installation tasks. Between trips, you will be based at our Bromma office, where you focus on aftermarket work — investigating recurring issues, supporting customers remotely, and driving long-term solutions both internally and in the field.

  • In practice, this job is demanding. Departures can happen on short notice when a vessel is down, stays on board can stretch from a few days to several weeks, and the work itself often takes place in tight engine rooms, on tight schedules, and under operational pressure. You are the person the crew is waiting for — and once you are on board, the problem is yours to solve.

  • It is also a deeply rewarding role. You are welcomed as the expert, you see your work directly impact a vessel returning to service, and you represent Echandia in front of the customer. Few engineering jobs offer this combination of technical depth, autonomy, and visible impact.

  • Key responsibilities*

    • Plan and lead on-site installation of electrical systems• Execute commissioning, service, and troubleshooting• Participate in FAT and SAT• Provide technical support to partner companies• Review and provide input on system design• Support project management, purchasing, and sales with technical expertise
    • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in electrical commissioning, service, or maintenance• Post-secondary qualification in electrical engineering, mechatronics, or equivalent• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and system designs• Willingness to travel up to 60% of the time, including extended stays on vessels
