JOB SUMMARY

TheBAS Technical Project Managersupports DLB’s mission critical projects, with a primary focus on building automation systems (BAS),PMS (Power Management System),controls integration, and smart building solutions. This role provides technical and project leadership for the planning, and designof BAS/PMSand integrated control systemsand develops and maintains DLB controls standards.

TheBAS Technical Project Managercollaborates closely without-source partners,MEP design engineers, construction contractors, equipment vendors, software engineers, project managers, and client representatives to ensure systems are designed, integrated, and delivered in alignment with project requirements and client expectations.

This positionoperateswith a high degree of independence, receiving generaldirectionson routineworkand detailed guidance on new or complex assignments. Themanagermay serve as a technical lead/ Point of Contacton projects of moderate to complex scope and coordinate the work of other engineering and production staff. The role communicates andoperatesin line with organizational goals, values, and departmentalobjectives.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Engineering Design-SupportActivities(50%)****  

• Oversee subconsultant scopes of work, including the development, review, and coordination of Statements of Objectives (SOO), construction drawings, and technical specifications.

• Ensure subconsultant deliverables are complete,accurate, and aligned with project requirements, organizational standards, and applicable codes and regulations using the DLB QAQC process.

• Coordinate with project teams and external partners tomonitorscopecompliance, maintain quality expectations, and supporttimelydelivery of design and documentation packages.

• Createand manage project deliverables including designdrawings, sequences of operations and specifications

• Assistin development ofvarious engineering drawings in AutoCADand Revitformat including floor plan drawings, system architecture diagrams, point-to-point wiring diagrams and control panel diagrams 

• Coordinate items with MEP trades that alsoaffectBAS

• Identifypotential project scope changes and aid in development of strategies to minimize impact and control deviations from estimated costs and project deadlines

• Management of project deliverableswhen they are not the lead design engineer

Standards Development and Maintenance (10%)

• Develop, document, andmaintainBAS and EPMS production standardsin conjunction with the BIM team.

• Develop, document, andmaintainBAS and EPMS specification sections.

• Review existing standards regularly to ensure they align with customer needs, DLB graphics standards, and ongoing innovations in the industry.

• Provide training, guidance, and support to staffregardingstandardsimplementation and compliance.

• Work closely with outsourcepartnersstandards and training staff to ensure compliance on all projects.

Assistin ConstructionAdministration****Activities (30%)

• Work as part of the engineering team and interact closely with the project management team

• Manage and review shop drawings and submittals    

• Manage and review and respond to RFIs

• Manage and review punch lists and project close out documents

Perform Onsite BAS Engineering Reviews (5%) 

• Assistand manageonsite BAS engineering audits and feasibility studies 

• Assistand manageBAS engineering surveys for retrofit projects

 

Administrative (5%) 

• Prepare and oversee development of project progress reports for internal and external stakeholders  

• Create / complete departmental reports 

• Accountable for project contract administration

• Leverage AI-enabled and digital tools to enhance efficiency, reduce manual effort, and support consistent, high-quality work output.

• Identifyopportunities to improve processes anddemonstratea continuous learning mindset, seeking outnew technologies, skills, and methods that elevate individual and team performance.

• Adapt toemergingtechnologies and evolving digital workflows, actively supporting the integration and adoption of innovative tools across the organization.

Performs Other Related Duties as Assigned 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS(ADVANCED****LEVEL FOR ALL THE FOLLOWING)

• Knowledge of open-source protocols (BACnet, Modbus and SNMP)  

• Knowledge of IoT and smart building solutions 

• Knowledge of typical data center control redundancy strategies

• Knowledge of materials, methods and the tools involved in the construction mission critical, commercial buildings, or other structures  

• Skilled at using Revit andautoCAD

• Skilled at using MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams), along with exceptional organizational skills for file management 

• Skilled in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail 

• Ability to leverage AI and emerging technologies to streamline workflows, optimize operational processes, and contribute to company-wide innovation

• Ability to work successfully in a remote environment thru effective communication and organizational skills, self-motivation, proactiveness and resourcefulness in a distraction free workspace 

• Ability to identify and analyze complex problems, evaluate alternatives and implement effective solutions 

• Ability to follow company and site safety requirements  

• Ability to analyze and prepare documents, reports and correspondence 

• Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form (technical and non-technical information)  

• Ability to communicate effectively directly with clients and at times serve as primary point of client contact 

• Ability to work successfully as a member of a team and independently with moderate supervision  

• Ability to effectively plan and delegate the work of others 

• Organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously

TRAVEL / RELOCATION REQUIREMENTS

• Approximately 10% travel to client sites, partner offices, or company events across the U.S.

• Travel is defined as physically leaving home on behalf of business activities including but not limited to client sites, meetings with other employees, meeting for business development purposes, running errands on behalf of the business, attending industry conferences, etc.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

• B.A. / B.S.degreeinEngineering,constructionor related disciplines

PLUS

• Minimum of5years of experience inBAS controls systems engineering
