- Autonomous mobility is moving from research and pilots towards deployment. Europe has a unique opportunity to shape this transition in a way that supports sustainable urban mobility, strengthens European competitiveness and delivers tangible value for cities and citizens.
- EIT Urban Mobility is playing an increasingly important role in this transition through its innovation programmes, strategic partnerships, engagement with European institutions and collaboration with cities, operators, technology providers and public transport authorities. Building on this momentum, we are looking for a senior leader to shape and drive EIT Urban Mobility's strategic approach to autonomous mobility.
- Reporting to the Director of Strategy & Innovation, the Autonomous Mobility Lead will guide the development and continuous refinement of EIT Urban Mobility's autonomous mobility strategy, leveraging the company’s capabilities, and activities.
- Working across Innovation, Impact Ventures, EU Affairs, Education and Regional Innovation Hubs and with external partners, you will strengthen EIT Urban Mobility's leadership in autonomous mobility by connecting cities, public transport authorities, industry, technology providers, researchers and European institutions around a common vision for deployment.
- You will identify emerging opportunities, shape strategic partnerships and contribute to the development of a coherent European ecosystem that accelerates the safe, sustainable and scalable deployment of autonomous mobility solutions where they deliver the greatest public value.
- Key responsibilities
- Lead the development and continuous evolution of EIT Urban Mobility's strategic approach to autonomous mobility, building on the strategic positioning developed across the Priority Domains.
- Translate market intelligence, organisational knowledge assets and domain expertise into a coherent companywide strategy and implementation roadmap for autonomous mobility.
- Identify strategic opportunities and priorities that accelerate the deployment of autonomous mobility while supporting sustainable, inclusive and liveable cities.
- Leverage EIT Urban Mobility's innovation programmes, investment activities, city network, policy engagement and ecosystem partnerships to maximise the impact and deployment of autonomous mobility solutions.
- Establish and maintain strategic partnerships with cities, public transport authorities, industry, research organisations, investors and European institutions to strengthen the European autonomous mobility ecosystem.
- Monitor emerging technological, regulatory and market developments, identifying opportunities and risks that shape EIT Urban Mobility's strategic direction on autonomous mobility.
- Identify regulatory, market and operational barriers to deployment and develop strategic recommendations that strengthen city readiness, market uptake and European competitiveness.
- Represent EIT Urban Mobility in high level European initiatives, expert groups and strategic partnerships related to autonomous mobility.
- Lead the development of strategic studies, position papers and executive briefings, strengthening EIT Urban Mobility's thought leadership and influence on autonomous mobility.
- Contribute to the strategic content of flagship initiatives, events and partnerships that reinforce EIT Urban Mobility's leadership in autonomous mobility.
- What you will bring along the way:
- An ideal candidate will strive to generate positive environmental and social impact in line with EIT Urban Mobility’s mission.
- Must-have:
- A master’s degree in Engineering, Industrial Economics, Business, Innovation Management, Urban Mobility or another relevant discipline.
- Minimum of 8 years of relevant professional experience in strategy, innovation, mobility, business development or ecosystem development within the transport or mobility sector.
- Demonstrated experience developing and implementing strategic initiatives involving multiple stakeholders across the public and private sectors.
- Experience working with autonomous mobility, connected mobility, AI enabled transport systems or other emerging mobility technologies.
- Strong understanding of the European urban mobility ecosystem and the opportunities and challenges associated with the deployment of autonomous mobility.
- Proven ability to develop strategic partnerships and engage effectively with cities, public transport authorities, industry, research organisations and public institutions.
- Experience translating emerging technologies, market intelligence and policy developments into strategic recommendations and implementation plans.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills in English (C1 level or above), both written and spoken.
- Experience managing complex initiatives involving multiple partners and disciplines.
- Strong strategic thinking, stakeholder engagement and influencing skills.
- Self-starter with a hands on attitude, comfortable operating in fast evolving environments and turning strategic ambition into tangible outcomes.
- Nice-to-have:
- Experience working in or with a Public Transport Authority, city administration or mobility operator.
- Experience engaging with European institutions, EU funded programmes or international partnerships.
- Established professional network across the European mobility and innovation ecosystem.
- Experience in innovation, venture building or start up ecosystems.
- Any additional European language is an asset.
