What You Will Do

You will support and assist the Autonomous Mining Controls Specialist and Autonomous Mining System Coordinator with operational changes and executing manual interventions to resolve autonomous system issues.

  • As the Autonomous Mining Pit Technician II, you will assist with conducting regular surveys and validations of the Autonomous Operation Zone in compliance with health and safety guidelines.
  • You will help identify truck behaviors requiring maintenance or optimization, interact with the Autonomous Haulage System for manual interventions, and communicate findings to appropriate personnel.
  • You will support task prioritization to meet shift objectives, complete and validate shift reports and handovers, and document follow‑up issues**.**
  • As the Autonomous Mining Pit Technician II, you assist with daily pit inspections, validate mine model changes, and optimize system configuration for Autonomous Mining Truck performance, recover and intervene with trucks, investigate stoppages, document data accurately, monitor operations and performance, and ensure truck availability in the correct mode.
  • You also ensure timely communication with stakeholders, promote safe and collaborative working relationships, coordinate with maintenance and engineering, comply with company policies and procedures, report autonomous-related incidents, participate in safety programs, and perform other assigned duties

What You Bring To Freeport

  • Two (2) years of related operational experience in a mining environment.
  • Completion of required academic and practical competencies, including Line of Progression requirements where applicable, with demonstrated aptitude and the ability to pass written assessments based on skills, academic knowledge, and safety.
  • Proficiency in computer operation and applications.
  • Action‑oriented approach with strong organizational and priority‑setting skills.
  • Approachable communication style with active listening and customer focus.
  • Negotiation skills to achieve outcomes amid competing priorities.
  • Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety instructions in English.
  • Ability to communicate in English regarding job assignments, procedures, and applicable safety standards.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Shovel and Dozier operating experience
  • Cable reel and shovel cable management experience

What We Offer You

The estimated pay range for this role is currently $27.00 - $36.00/hour. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payment considerations based on company and individual performance. More details will be shared during the hiring process.
