Job Description

The Automation Technician works within the workshop department and is involved in the full machine‑building process—from supporting the design phase (in collaboration with the Design Office) to commissioning and installation. The equipment produced is deployed globally to support our manufacturing operations and contribute to the production of Baxter products that help save and sustain patients’ lives.

What you'll be doing:

  • Independently manage machine and cabinet wiring, ensuring alignment with project timelines and goals.
  • Evaluate mechanical aspects of machines during both design and build phases.
  • Collaborate effectively with external suppliers and internal teams (electrical technicians, mechanical designers and software developers).
  • Ensure compliance with internal EHS standards and contribute to a safe, healthy and environmentally responsible workplace.
  • Interface with design, engineering, plant personnel and vendors to ensure proper fabrication, assembly and functionality of equipment.
  • Monitor the construction of main machine groups and propose technical improvements.
  • Travel up to 40% (domestic and international) for installation, start‑up and post‑sales support.

What you'll bring:

  • Knowledge of basic engineering principles and automated manufacturing equipment.
  • Understanding of mechanical, electrical, electronic, pneumatic and robotics systems involved in machine construction.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, layouts and manuals, and assemble/cable machines accordingly.
  • Strong teamwork, communication and problem‑solving skills, both in the workshop and at customer sites.
  • English proficiency at B2 level minimum; Italian required for the Campo site.

Education & Experience

  • Technical high school diploma or equivalent.
  • 3–5 years of experience in building automatic machines.
  • Good command of MS Office.
  • Basic knowledge of PLC programming and AutoCAD.
