Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled Automation Technician to support and maintain automated manufacturing equipment in a fast-paced production environment. This role is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and improving automated systems including robots, PLCs, and vision systems to ensure optimal equipment performance and minimal downtime.
Key Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot and repair automation equipment including robots, PLCs, sensors, and vision systems
- Support production by quickly responding to equipment issues and restoring functionality
- Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on automated systems
- Assist with programming, debugging, and modifying PLC and robot programs
- Support new equipment launches, installations, and automation improvements
- Work with engineering and maintenance teams to identify and implement process improvements
- Document repairs, modifications, and maintenance activities
- Ensure compliance with all safety policies and procedures
Qualifications
- Associate degree or technical certification in Automation, Mechatronics, Electrical Technology, or related field preferred
- 3+ years of experience troubleshooting industrial automation equipment in a manufacturing environment
- Experience with PLC systems (Allen Bradley, or similar)
- Experience with industrial robots (Fanuc, ABB, Whittman, or similar) preferred
- Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills
- Ability to read electrical schematics and technical drawings
- Experience with sensors, servo systems, and HMIs preferred
- Vision inspection systems
Preferred Experience
- Preferred experience with RSLogixs 500, 5000, and Studio 5000 programming
- Plastic injection molding automation
- End-of-arm tooling and robotic part handling
- High-volume manufacturing environments
