As an Automation Technician, you are assembling, wiring, and integrating automated equipment and tooling systems that support our manufacturing operations. You are installing, commissioning, and validating automation systems while troubleshooting electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and basic controls issues. You are performing preventive and corrective maintenance, supporting system debugging and continuous improvement, and assisting with upgrades and equipment modifications. You are interpreting electrical schematics and mechanical drawings, maintaining documentation, and responding promptly to automation issues on the production floor. You are collaborating with engineering and operations teams to enhance equipment reliability and maintain a safe, organized work environment.
As an Automation Technician, you are responsible for:
Assembling, wiring, and integrating automated equipment, fixtures, and tooling systems.
Supporting installation, commissioning, and validation of new automation systems (FAT/SAT).
Troubleshooting electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and basic controls issues on automation equipment.
Performing preventive and corrective maintenance on automated manufacturing systems.
Assisting with debugging, testing, and continuous improvement activities.
Supporting upgrades, retrofits, and modifications to existing automation systems.
Reading and interpreting electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and wiring diagrams.
Assisting in documentation including work instructions, PM plans, and equipment records.
Supporting production teams with timely response to automation and tooling issues.
Maintaining a safe, organized, and efficient work environment in accordance with EHS requirements.
Collaborating with engineering and operations teams to improve equipment reliability and performance.
Fuel your passion
To be successful in this role you will:
Have an associate degree, technical diploma, or trade certification in Automation, Mechatronics, Electrical Technology, Industrial Maintenance, or related field OR equivalent hands‑on experience.
Have experience with electrical wiring, control panels, sensors, actuators, and industrial components.
Have the ability to troubleshoot electromechanical systems.
Have the ability to read electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
Have comfort working in a manufacturing environment and supporting production equipment.
Have strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
Have the ability to work independently and as part of a cross‑functional team.
Preferred Qualifications
Have experience supporting automation equipment in a manufacturing environment.
Have familiarity with C#‑based systems.
Have experience with machine vision software (Cognex, Sherlock, etc.).
Have basic understanding of HMI systems, sensors, vision systems, or robotics.
Have experience with pneumatic systems.
Have experience supporting commissioning and startup of new equipment.
Have knowledge of machine safety standards, LOTO procedures, and industrial safety practices.
Physical & Work Requirements
Ability to stand, bend, and work on equipment for extended periods.
Ability to lift items within typical shop limits.
Occasional support required outside normal hours during installations or urgent production issues.

The annual pay scale for this position is between $65,410.00 - $121,510.00.
Candidates for this role (office-based/ hybrid/ remote) must be located in or near the locations displayed above. The pay range/scale displayed above represents Baker Hughes’ good faith estimate of the minimum and maximum for this position at the time of this posting and applies to the possible locations for this position. Baker Hughes will issue a non-bias competitive offer; the salary range posted for this position reflects the projected hiring range for new hires, full-time salaries in some U.S. locations, not including equity or benefits. Where an applicant will ultimately fall within the pay range/scale depends on a variety of factors, including, for example, geographic work location, skillset, qualifications, internal pay alignment, level of experience, and demonstrated performance over time. Please keep in mind that the range stated above is the full base salary range for the role and does not include other forms of compensation.
