About this Job

OBJECTIVES

  1. To continually advance the SCADA/AMI/distribution protection systems to add value throughout the cooperative.
  2. To assist in optimizing, securing, and maintaining the SCADA/AMI/Communication systems, and consistently provide reliable data to the cooperative.
  3. To provide technical engineering services to the Cooperative and its members and to efficiently carry out operations and maintenance responsibilities in order to provide maximum service to the Cooperative's membership.
  4. To provide support, training and trouble shooting of a wide range of technology applications.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Installs and maintains AMI systems.
  2. Installs and maintains metering installations.
  3. Works closely with CIS Administrator/IT Department as needed.
  4. Installs and maintains SCADA and communications equipment.
  5. Monitors SCADA related equipment and communications daily, troubleshooting as needed.
  6. Programs and troubleshoots recloser, regulator, and capacitor digital microprocessor controls.
  7. Inspects and maintains regulators, capacitors, (and their controls) along with metering equipment which requires working out of bucket truck.
  8. Assists with daily checks of AMI device communication and troubleshooting of related systems.
  9. Assists in installing and maintaining large power meter installations and tests meters for compliance with PSC regulations
  10. Installs voltage recording devices for power quality studies, analyzes data and assists in troubleshooting power quality issues.
  11. Maintains Part 107 drone pilot license.
  12. Reads and furnishes commercial and industrial readings to billing department.
  13. Installs and maintains 2-way radio system and mobile data in vehicles.
  14. Assists with testing and calibrating voltmeters and meter test bench for compliance with PSC regulations
  15. Maintains meter testing certification.
  16. Assists in emergency servicing, maintenance and repair of lines and equipment.
  17. Maintains knowledge of rules, regulations and rates and communicates information to members as requested.
  18. Forecasts equipment needs and costs for associated projects and programs as required and related to job duties.
  19. Follows BGEnergy Safety Manual as well as BGEnergy policies and procedures
  20. Assists in the Operations Center as needed.

POSITION SPECIFICATIONS

Education

Associates Degree or higher in electronics/engineering

Experience

Five (5) years' experience in the electric utility industry with a technical/technology background may be substituted for Degree

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

Working knowledge of personal computers and technical software applications required. Working knowledge of meters is preferred. Ability to develop skills necessary to operate personal computer, technical software, and equipment to perform assigned work. Ability to troubleshoot computer and technical related problems. Ability to learn Cooperative's service area and distribution system. Ability to work with basic mathematical concepts. Ability to understand and follow Cooperative maps, Cooperative Safety Manual, and any type of Cooperative forms related to work being performed. Must possess and maintain valid driver's license. Must be certified and recertified annually in aerial bucket truck rescue.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Required to pass a physical examination when employed. Must have sufficient health to perform the essential functions, duties and responsibilities of the job.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Outside work under varying and at times severe weather conditions and subject to irregular hours including nights, weekends, and holidays. Loads materials, parts, etc. in and out of pickup at work site and warehouse. Some pulling, pushing, stooping, kneeling, and reaching required.
