Who We Are Looking For

Re:Build Optimation seeks an Automation & Controls Engineer Co-op/Intern to collaborate with engineering, trades, and project management teams on client projects.

Export Control Requirement: Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

What You Get To Do

  • Support project teams in a variety of ways including but not limited to: requirements gathering, functional specification development, control system architecture development, piping & instrumentation (P&ID) development, instrumentation & automation equipment specification & selection, PLC code development, HMI screen development, bill of materials (BOM) creation, code & standard review/research (NEC, NFPA, UL508a, etc.), fabrication & assembly support, troubleshooting, etc.
  • Produce drawings & schematics with CAD software/tools
  • Support the development & writing of technical reports & project documentation
  • Collaborate with a senior or principal engineer mentor to establish and achieve personal and professional development objectives
  • Participate in internal & client project meetings and design reviews
  • Work with project managers to plan, manage, and complete tasks

What You Bring To The Team

  • Currently pursuing a BS and/or MS degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science from an accredited college or university
  • Strong written and verbal communication, organization, and personal management skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment
  • Eager to learn and adapt in a fast-paced engineering environment; naturally curious
  • Prior software/coding experience preferred (e.g., Python, Java, C#, etc.)
  • Familiarity with CAD software/tools; AutoCAD Electrical is the preferred choice
  • Ability to be on-site at our offices in Rochester, NY and/or Rush, NY
  • Experience with process simulation tools; ChemCAD preferred
  • Experience working with ISO9001 or similar quality system a plus
  • Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement tools & methodologies a plus
  • Prior co-op, internship, or relevant project experience supporting engineering & design of industrial equipment and/or automation solutions a plus
  • Minimum GPA 3.0 preferred

Hourly Rate Range: $23 - $25 an hour. Compensation is dependent on candidate experience.
