About this Job

About us

Dyson’s Test & Quality Assurance team helps ensure that every product reflects the quality and reliability of the Dyson brand. We apply world-class engineering practices and automated testing methods across the product lifecycle. This includes simulating product components and operating conditions to test a wide range of scenarios, as well as using image recognition and other advanced technologies to identify and validate elements displayed in user interfaces. Our Quality Management System experts embed quality throughout the Scaled Agile Framework development process and use customer feedback to inform future product improvements. Our laboratories support unattended testing of both partial and complete products—including moving robots—enabling effective remote testing and collaboration.

About the role

  • Lead the design and development of test frameworks for validating robot vacuum cleaner firmware and its integration with cloud services and the MyDyson app.

  • Lead the design and development of vision-based testing frameworks to assess robot behaviour and capture test data for issue diagnosis and debugging.

  • Lead the design and development of data pipelines that transform test logs and results into actionable insights.

  • Develop and drive a leading quality dashboard that provides early indicators of software and hardware quality (SWHWPS).

  • Drive innovation in test methodologies, including the application of AI/ML and advanced data analytics to improve detection reliability and test efficiency.

  • Serve as a technical authority within the Test & Quality Assurance team, collaborating with Development, Operations, Quality and Design teams to integrate testing seamlessly into the product development lifecycle.

  • Define and communicate the robot test framework roadmap, report progress to senior stakeholders, and ensure clear alignment across teams.

About you

  • At least 7 years of experience in software test framework or test infrastructure development.

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or a related field.

  • Advanced proficiency in Python for test framework development.

  • Strong knowledge of software design patterns and principles, as well as concurrent programming.

  • Experience designing vision-based systems and developing object-tracking solutions.

  • A strong understanding of electronic hardware and its interfaces with software systems.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical information clearly to executives and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Knowledge of software architectures for IoT products, including embedded systems, mobile applications, cloud services and machine learning.

  • Experience developing professional, automated web-based dashboards would be advantageous.

Dyson solves real-world problems and creates better products through the application of engineering, science, design and creativity. It is a family-owned, global technology company, founded by Sir James Dyson who remains at the helm alongside his son Jake. Since inventing the first cyclonic bagless vacuum cleaner, the DC01, Dyson has consistently invested in research and development to improve its products and technologies radically. Dyson offers products across a growing range of areas: floorcare, air purification, robotics, haircare including formulations, lighting, hand drying, and most recently audio. Dyson continues to expand into new areas. Today, Dyson sells products in more than 80 markets, has 450 Dyson stores worldwide and is available in all major technology and beauty retailers. Dyson has global headquarters in Singapore and major technology campuses in Singapore, the UK, Malaysia, and the Philippines. Its global team of engineers, scientists and software developers are focused on developing technology-enabled products which work better and which people love to use. Key areas of focus have included high-speed electric digital motors, sensing and vision systems, robotics, machine learning and aerodynamics. Beyond products, to encourage an inventive future, Dyson is also inspiring the next generation of engineers and inventors through the Dyson Institute of Engineering and Technology, the James Dyson Foundation and the James Dyson Award. The Dyson family applies its problem-solving approach in other fields, and established Dyson Farming in 2012. It is one of the largest farming businesses in the UK, extending to 36,000 acres across Lincolnshire, Oxfordshire, Gloucestershire and Somerset. It is a family-owned enterprise unlike any other, focussed on long-term investment in British farming and the countryside to grow tasty and nutritious food.
