Overview
The Saskatchewan Research Council (SRC) is seeking an Associate Geospatial Scientist to anchor SRCs geomatics and spatial data infrastructure while supporting climate and climate-resilience initiatives. This position will focus on designing, operating, and evolving geospatial platforms, data standards, and analytics that serve multiple business units. This role will have the opportunity to support climate vulnerability, hazard and risk work for government and industry clients.
Accountabilities
- Administer and support ArcGIS Enterprise, spatial databases, and associated services
- Design and maintain spatial data models, ETL workflows, and geospatial data standards across projects
- Provide GIS design, development,advisory services,mapping, analysis, administration, data management, and analytical services for integrated data management systems for internal and external clients
- Automate GIS and data management tasks using scripting tools such as Python and SQL
- Develop and implement quality control and quality assurance standards and processes
- Support acquisition, processing, and analysis of remote sensing data from satellite, aerial, UAV, and LiDAR
- Integrate geospatial workflows with advanced analytics, including artificial intelligence and machine learning, third-party databases, and enterprise systems
- Contribute to climate-informed hazard-mapping, vulnerability, and risk assessments
- Integrate climate and hydrologic datasets, projections and monitoring data into geospatial workflows
- Participate in proposal development and identification of new opportunities in geomatics and climate resilience
Qualifications
- Degree in Computer Science, Geomatics, Geography, Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field, with a minimum of 3 years of data management and enterprise GIS experience
- Proficiency with ArcGIS, spatial databases, SQL, and scripting
- Experience with drone operation, imageryacquisition,and geospatial image processing is an asset
- Experience in climate services, adaptation, riskassessment,or related environmental applications is an asset
- Valid Class 5 drivers licence; field work may be required

- Detail-oriented with the ability to work on avariety of different projects simultaneously
- Strong analytical,troubleshooting,and documentation skills
- Ability to manage priorities across multiple projects and work effectively in multidisciplinary teams
The chosen candidate will be required to provide an original Criminal Record Check that is satisfactory to SRC prior to the commencement of any employment duties. The Criminal Record Check must have been executed within the preceding 30 days of receipt.
This position is located in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.
