Our Opportunity:

Chewy is seeking an Associate Director to lead its Warehouse Design and Robotics Engineering Team. This leader will oversee the development and deployment of next-generation robotic systems and fulfillment center infrastructure, with a focus on developing new supply chain capabilities, improving operational efficiency, and enhancing team member experience. The role requires strong engineering acumen, a strategic mindset, and the ability to drive innovation in a fast-paced, tech-forward environment.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead a multi-disciplinary engineering team responsible for designing and launching new large-scale fulfillment centers and retrofits across Chewy’s network
    • Develop and own a multi-year technology roadmap to achieve long-term business goals focused on net sales growth, customer experience, and operational cost optimization.
  • Develop cutting-edge automation and robotics solutions that improve safety, throughput, and efficiency in Chewy fulfillment centers
  • Partner with operations, product, and finance teams to define technical requirements and unlock new supply chain capabilities that support net sales growth
  • Drive long-term strategic planning efforts, including ROI analysis, to guide investment decisions and ensure alignment with business goals
  • Vet, select, and manage external vendors to deliver capital projects and automation systems on time and within budget
  • Mentor and grow a high-performing team of engineers
  • Manage risk across all phases of design, development, and deployment to ensure reliable, scalable systems

What You’ll Need:

  • Bachelor's Degree (Engineering or related field) or equivalent work experience.
  • 7+ years of experience in warehouse industrial design
  • 2+ years of experience managing warehouse engineering teams
  • Experience designing large-scale warehouses and fulfillment equipment and processes
  • Experience designing, developing, testing, and deploying advanced robotic systems
    • Ability to manage multiple high priority projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to travel as needed.

Bonus (if applicable):

  • Master's Degree (Engineering or related field)
  • Experience with industrial PLC systems
  • Experience with industry standard FMEA processes
  • Experience with cloud native technology stacks and service-oriented architecture

The base salary range for this role is $166,000 - $265,500.

  • The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to the candidate’s relevant experience, education, and work location. In addition, this position is eligible for 401k and a new hire and annual equity grant. C08+ positions may also be eligible for annual bonus.
