About this Job

About Insignito

At Insignito, we turn sound into smart drone detection.

We're an Israeli defense-tech startup and an affiliate company within the Sentrycs Group, developing advanced acoustic technologies that detect, track, and classify drones by their unique sound signatures.

Our flagship product, DUMBO, adds a passive sensing layer to counter-drone systems, helping tackle real-world security challenges.

Combining startup agility, deep technological expertise, and the strength of the Sentrycs Group, we're building innovative solutions that make a real impact.

About the position

We are looking for an Algorithm R&D Engineer to join our team.

Join the DUMBO team and develop the algorithms behind our real-time acoustic drone detection system.

You will research new approaches, implement them in Python, evaluate them using real and simulated data, and integrate successful solutions into DUMBO’s production pipeline running on NVIDIA Jetson edge computers.

The work combines signal processing, statistics, machine learning, experimentation, and software development. We are looking for someone who enjoys both solving difficult algorithmic problems and turning those solutions into reliable real-world capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Research and develop algorithms for detection, localization, tracking, classification, and acoustic signal processing.
  • Turn research ideas into production-quality Python implementations.
  • Design experiments and evaluation methods to measure algorithm performance.
  • Analyze recordings, telemetry, simulations, and field-test data to identify problems and opportunities.
  • Optimize algorithms for real-time execution and edge-computing constraints.
  • Work closely with software engineers to integrate algorithms into DUMBO.
  • Participate in lab and field tests and use real-world results to improve performance.
  • Use AI and agentic tools to accelerate research, implementation, analysis, and experimentation.

Requirements

  • Strong background in signal processing, applied mathematics, physics, electrical engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong Python programming ability.
  • Experience developing and validating algorithms using real data.
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
  • Ability to move from theoretical ideas to working implementations.
  • Ability to design experiments, define performance metrics, and analyze results.
  • Strong independent problem-solving and research skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Digital signal processing, array processing, beamforming, or direction-of-arrival estimation.
  • Machine learning, classification, tracking, or estimation.
  • Acoustic or audio signal processing.
  • NumPy, SciPy, PyTorch/TensorFlow, or similar scientific tools.
  • Real-time or performance-sensitive algorithm development.
  • NVIDIA Jetson, GPU, or CUDA experience.
  • Sensors, robotics, radar, computer vision, defense systems, or similar domains.
  • Experience conducting field experiments and working with imperfect real-world data.
