Algorithm Engineer I

Skills and Responsibilities

Navigation and Localization

  • Implement basic navigation, localization, estimation, and sensor-processing algorithms from detailed designs.
  • Assist experienced engineers with the development of advanced navigation and sensor-fusion algorithms.
  • Support analysis and troubleshooting of algorithm performance, numerical issues, and integration problems.
  • Develop foundational knowledge of Kalman filtering, Bayesian estimation, inertial navigation, GNSS, and sensor fusion.
  • Conduct full system investigations using simulations, desktop analyses, recorded data, and vehicle or platform test data under the guidance of experienced engineers.

Model Based Workflows

  • Work within the Model-Based Design and Systems Engineering workflow, particularly using the MathWorks toolchain.
  • Develop and maintain basic MATLAB and Simulink models, simulations, test cases, and analysis scripts.
  • Support requirements tracing, model reviews, verification, and validation activities.
  • Follow established modeling, coding, configuration-management, and documentation processes.

Sensors

  • Support analysis and processing of GPS/GNSS measurements and related signal-processing data.
  • Support analysis of inertial sensor data from Ring Laser Gyros, Fiber Optic Gyros, and MEMS sensors.

Required Skills:

Relevant Tool Proficiencies

  • MATLAB or Python (experience with Simulink and C is a plus)
  • Basic modeling, simulation, data analysis, and visualization.
  • Basic algorithm testing, verification, and validation.
  • Familiarity with object-oriented programming concepts.
  • Familiarity with Git or other configuration-management tools.

Technical and Analytical Skills

  • Understanding of engineering mathematics, linear algebra, probability, statistics, and numerical methods.
  • Ability to analyze data, identify trends, document results, and communicate technical findings.
  • Ability to work effectively with software, systems, test, electrical, and hardware engineers.

Education/Other

  • B.S. or greater in Engineering, Physics or Applied Mathematics
  • Travel - Approximately 10% for customer reviews, technical meetings, integration activities, and test support.
  • Must be a US Citizen

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in New Jersey is $80,000 - $95,000 annually.  This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to job-related knowledge and skills, experience, and internal consistency.
