Job description
Keysight Technologies in Germany is looking for an electronics hardware engineer who ideally also knows about optics/photonics, to support our photonics R&D activities. In this role, you will get the opportunity to work in a highly motivated team and contribute to the development of next generation of photonic test and measurement instruments.
The successful candidate will have a deep knowledge in electronics engineering/board design. Having practical experience in fiber-optics and/or firmware development is considered an advantage.
Candidates are expected to work onsite in Boeblingen at least 3 days a week. Full-time office presence is expected if project tasks/progress require so.
Responsibilities:
- Electronic hardware/board and FPGA design
- Test and validation for photonic test and measurement instrument prototypes
- Test and data analysis of individual components, assemblies and instruments
- Contribution to definition and implementation of calibration routines
- Responsible for writing, debugging and testing test software
- Participating in meetings with colleagues to present and discuss results
Qualifications
Required qualifications:
- Bachelors degree plus 4 years of work experience or Masters degree plus 2 year in electrical engineering, electronic engineering or related discipline
- Demonstrated experience and expertise in precision analog hardware design
- Demonstrated experience in hardware design of digital components including FPGAs
- Demonstrated experience in programming and simulating Verilog or VHDL designs of FPGAs
- Experience with circuit analysis and design, CAD schematic tools, circuit simulation tools, and design evaluation and qualification
- Good understanding of software development practices and software architecture with C# (or experience with C/C++) and .NET, version control with Git
- Good communication and presentation skills and an approach to solve problems analytically
- Ability to work in a multi-site, multi-cultural global team environment
- Very good English written and verbal communication skills
Preferred qualifications:
- PhD plus 2 years of work experience in electrical engineering, electronic engineering or related discipline.
- Knowledge about optical components and/or photonic systems
- Hands-on experience with fiber-optic equipment
- Experience in developing software for hardware control, low level firmware, Linux
- Programming skills for data analysis, (e.g. Python, Matlab)
- German language skills
